FAQ

Why can’t I coach myself?

The answer is, “you can” and in fact you do. However, having a trained coach provides a sounding board, a second opinion, another perspective, and most importantly someone to motivate you and keep you accountable. Coaches are trained to listen for your passion, ask powerful questions, and impart motivation and encouragement. Have you ever attended a powerful seminar or lecture and come away with every intention of following through with what you learned, but found yourself unfocused with little motivation after a short time? Have you ever started a diet, made resolutions, all with great gusto and good intentions-- only to fail? What if you had a coach encouraging you and keeping you focused? We believe success would have been yours. Coaching oneself usually falls short.

What’s the difference between Life Coaching and Counseling/Therapy?

Coaching deals with emotional healthy people who want to move forward to increae and live a better life. It is a process beyond problem solving that helps the client create a life that is purposeful and intentional. Coaching focuses on fusing the present with the future. Coaching is primarily conducted by telephone (the national average is approximately 60%). Therapy, in contrast, generally deals with emotional/behavioral problems and disruptive situations – and seeks to bring the client to normal function by focusing on his/her dysfunction. Therapy is usually done in-person, although at times, it may be done over the telephone. Counseling, similar to Therapy, deals mostly with problems of the past, which are causing problems in the present. The focus is to help the client see how the past and present are connected and work through this relationship.

Does the program include setting goals and accountability?

Without a plan and well-defined goals, a person's desires will remain just that -- desires. As the coaching relationship progresses and the client and coach become focused on results, setting goals and accountability are natural outcomes. We help you set and maintain goals. Because we care for you, we also bring accountability to the partnership.

How can I be sure that the coaching is confidential?

As a certified Life Coach, professional ethics dictate confidentiality within the confines of the law. Your personal identity and information is held in absolute confidence.

How much time will it take?

Coaching sessions are usually conducted no more than once a week and last for 30 to 45 minutes each. How often we meet is a choice made by the client. The commitment to achieve the desired goals of the client determines the length of coaching. It has been our experience that the minimum length of coaching is three months and sometimes longer. The client always has the final determination.

What does it cost?

Summit Life Coaching employs a sliding scale dependent upon how often the client wants to be coached. In general coaching sessions are held two to four times per month with the cost ranging between $150.00 and $300.00 per month.

What is my next step?

If you are interested in knowing more or if you are ready to begin a coaching partnership, we encourage you to contact one of our coaches for a Complimentary Consultation.  During this session we will be able to answer your questions and let you feel how coaching works; most important of all, we will get to know each other.  It is important for both the client and coach to agree that their coaching relationship will produce positive results.
